One Big Cat, One Amazing Park

Bengal Tiger - India

Destination India Ranthambore National Park is one of the best places to photograph the Bengal Tiger in the wild. These tigers can be 11 feet long and 500 pounds. The best time to view these large cats is in the summer during the hot temperatures.

Traveling to the ends of earth, seeing so many cultures, people, places and wildlife is hard to capture in a photo, a blog or a discussion. When I was in Botswana on a safari a few years ago, I recall sitting in a jeep and watching life in the bush. Being a part of a wild dog chase or a herd of elephants curiously surrounding our jeep, or the den of cubs content and playful, with no concern that we were in their space -- is simply hard to explain. It’s like you are accepted in their herd for those precious shared moments.

As I prepare for India, I feel excited, nervous and a bit curious of what this “once in a lifetime” experience will be. India is different than Africa. The conditions are more extreme, the wildlife harder to find and the temperatures will be at a yearly all time high. The anticipation of what it will feel like to see these amazing cats up close and in the wild leaves a jitter in my gut. These rare moments in life create a lasting impression and a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of ecosystems, wildlife and cultural history around the world. Traveling is a life changing experience. I am humbled and grateful to have such opportunities.
